The Lux Award for ‘Industrial and Transport Lighting Project of the Year’ was awarded to Volvo Construction Equipment, Carbon Reduction Technology and enModus.
The ‘Smart Connected Lighting’ solution from Carbon Reduction Technology and enModus uses more than 950 smart lights at the Volvo production facility in Motherwell, Scotland.
Far from being just a LED lighting upgrade, the technical solution comprises of high efficacy LED luminaires with integrated occupancy and ambient light sensors from Carbon Reduction Technology and smart connected lighting technology from enModus.
Remarkably, the solution uses the existing wiring infrastructure to create a building-wide communications network. The ‘Smart Connected Lighting’ delivers intelligent lighting control of individual luminaires and automated emergency light testing.
Andy Heaton, CEO at enModus enthused: “We are absolutely delighted to be recognised at these awards for the scale and success of this project. This is another proof point that a smart connected lighting solution delivers additional energy savings and undeniable value for industrial organisations.”
Paul Hudson, Operations Director at Volvo commented: “This project is testament to the forward-thinking employees within our business. With the smart connected lighting solution in place, we are another few steps closer to reaching our goal of becoming a carbon neutral site.”
